A Rare and Symbolic Holiday Season

This year, Christmas and Hanukkah fall on the same day, a rare occurrence that feels profoundly symbolic amidst the unrest we see in the world today. As I reflect on this unique alignment of two sacred celebrations, I’m reminded of what these holidays represent: light, hope, love, and the deep yearning for peace.

Yet, around us, we see a world where peace feels elusive. Innocent people are suffering, communities are divided, and the freedom to live according to one’s beliefs—without fear or harm—is under constant threat. This reality weighs heavily on my heart. So often, I find myself asking, Why can’t we all just get along? This simple question echoes louder than ever this holiday season.

Christmas is a time of giving, joy, and love, while Hanukkah is a celebration of resilience, miracles, and light in the face of darkness. Together, these holidays serve as a powerful reminder that even in challenging times, hope can endure, and light can prevail.

As these two beautiful traditions converge, I wish and pray that people of all faiths can find solace, joy, and safety this holiday season. May we all take a moment to set aside differences, to celebrate not just our individual traditions but the shared values that unite us as human beings.
